The verb to be in the Past Tense has two forms Was, Were.

Present Tense:

I am happy today. We are happy today.

I am not happy today. We are not happy today.

Am I happy today? Are we happy today?

Past Tense:

I was happy yesterday. We were happy yesterday.

I was not happy yesterday. We were not happy yesterday.

Was I happy yesterday? Were we happy yesterday?
